I love brides.
I love helping them dream about their weddings, seeing the excitement on their faces as the ideas come together and the dress takes shape.
One of my favourite brides ever was Sarah. Sarah worked with me from October to May as my intern. Long hours were spent in the studio sewing, or cutting snowflakes from old book pages, or just chatting about life. One day she came into the studio with a shiny diamond on her finger and the dreaming began. She knew she wanted a princess dress with lace and tulle…and a little bit of pink. She found these beautiful wooden soled shoes, so we decided to do something a little unexpected, and we raised the hem in the front to show off the shoes and create this lovely waterfall effect at the hem.
50 meters of tulle, over 6 meters of silk satin, and 10 meters of lace hand sewn to the hem and the bodice. It is lined with champagne pink, and finished with a blush pink silk ribbon and silk covered buttons. This dress was a labour of love, and it reminds me of a fairytale.
